Instead of giving you questionable ingredients, or a long list of under dosed ingredients; we’d rather remove all the bullsh*t and put something more valuable in your energy drink.
If you want better workouts, laser sharp focus, and no jitters or anxiety, here is why L-Theanine belongs in your pre workout.
What is Theanine?
Theanine is a 100% safe nutrient that is found in high-quality pre workouts. It has been proven to reduce jitters and other negative side effects caused by stimulants like caffeine and is a major component in green tea. It actually almost exclusively occurs in the tea plant.
L-Theanine has even been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier, increasing brain concentration and alpha brain waves (α-waves) when supplemented in doses from 50mg to 250mg. If you have ever heard of a nootropic, this is one of them. Nootropics are supplements that can improve cognitive function, memory and other brain functions due to their ability to cross the blood-brain barrier .
Alpha brain waves can reduce depressive symptoms, increase creative thinking, and improve relaxation, focus, and wakefulness .
If you or someone you know struggles with anxiety or suffers from other side effects when consuming caffeine, consider adding Theanine to the mix. In fact, my mom is one of those people. She cannot drink coffee without feeling anxious or tense, however she is able to drink her favorite pre workout – PWR RUSH! Although it does have caffeine in it, the Theanine keeps her calm and relaxed!
Okay, so L-Theanine is good for fighting anxiety and helping me focus, but where does the Caffeine come in?
It has been proven countless times that supplementing 150mg of caffeine (about 1.5 cups of coffee) is able to improve reaction time and fight the perception of fatigue or tiredness by blocking adenosine receptors. It is extremely effective as a stimulant BUT it does have its own drawbacks. Some people experience headaches, jitteriness, insomnia, and mild anxiety.
This is where Theanine really shines. This ingredient can preserve all the positive effects gained by caffeine while reducing all the side effects. It can be best considered a relaxing agent that promotes focus without sedation .
Unfortunately, not many pre workout supplements offer L-Theanine and instead use unproven “exotic” ingredients as a marketing stunt. The other issue is that most pre workouts that do have Theanine charge way too much. We’ve also noticed that many companies like ‘pixie dusting’ ingredients and hide behind their proprietary blends. This makes the consumer believe they are getting a good “secret” blend of ingredients, however, the scientifically proven minimum dosages aren’t met, often rendering the formula ineffective. PWR Supplements doesn’t play any of these games because we believe in total transparency with what we put in our supplements.
Our pre workout, Rush, is packed with 200mg of L-Theanine and 150mg of caffeine to give you a “smart caffeine”. You’ll get the unrelenting motivation you need to perform your best without the jitters or anxiety.
