Let’s face it, we depend on stimulants … like … a lot.
The problem is, they can be detrimental to our sleep cycles and can seriously impact proper hormone balance.
PWR Down is made up of 100% safe, non-habit forming ingredients that promote deep and rejuvenating sleep and aid in regulating hormone balance.
- Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol). 50mcg
- Zinc (as Zinc Picolinate). 30mg
- L-Tryphtophan 1500mg
- Magnesium Citrate 400mg
- Milk Thistle (extract) (Silybum Marianum)(seed) 150mg
- Theanine 100mg
- Melatonin 300mcg
When we sat down to build the concept of PWR Down, we discussed what we believed made people get such poor sleep every night. We concluded that it was a combination of stress, poor dieting and over caffeination. So we set our goals on making a product to combat this.
Most people don’t realize just how much processed foods are in their diets. To control calories, fats, sugars, and other dietary factors, a lot of important nutrients are removed. The ingredients in PWR Down are meant to compensate this deficit to promote better, deeper sleep and to wake up feeling refreshed.
Tryptophan and Vitamin D
Everyone knows Tryptophan as the amino acid in turkey that makes you tired after a massive Thanksgiving dinner. This is more myth than fact just because turkey does not contain much tryptophan. However, Tryptophan is your body’s precursor to serotonin, which is an essential hormone for healthy sleep. Vitamin D3 is used to regulate the release of serotonin in your body. Usually obtained from the sun, the surplus of vitamin D you receive from sitting out on the beach all day basically acts as a serotonin dump. Typically, why you feel tired and relaxed when you finally get home. Combining these two ingredients is the capsulated form of taking a nap on the beach with a full belly!
Zinc and Magnesium (ZMA)
For a while now, the supplement industry has tried to claim that ZMA’s help boost testosterone. This has basically been called out as bullshit time and time again. So why would we add it? These two minerals typically don’t make the cut in processed foods. Everything from fast foods, mass produced foods, even down to that meal replacement bar, its tough to find proper levels of these in anything other than true protein sources (red meat, fish, etc.). Recent research in deficiencies in in Magnesium linked to depression and gastrula intestinal problems. These are two huge factors that can be keeping you up at night.
Milk Thistle and Theanine
Theanine is one of our favorite amino acids! Most commonly known for its “calming effects” in tea leaves, Theanine counteracts the build up cortisol, the main side effect of over caffeination.
Milk Thistle is one of the most well researched liver aids on the planet. Aside from staying hydrated and avoiding drugs and alcohol, Milk Thistle is one of the most common supplements used to promote liver health. Your liver does most of the filtering of toxins in your body. Yes, mainly alcohol you party animals. But also hormone abundances. Excess cortisol, estrogen, adrenaline, you name it, this is where too much ends up. Theanine and milk thistle work side by side to promote hormonal balance to help keep you from waking up throughout the night.
Melatonin has always been used in sleep aids. Typically in high dosages that knock you tf out and have you wake up with a sleep hangover the next morning. Even a baseball bat can knock you out. The right sleep aid should help you wake up, too! There are numerous benefits of micro-dosing melatonin. The ones we want to specifically highlight are “non-habit forming” and how it still puts you to sleep fast but allows for you to wake up less groggy than if you were to take a 3-10mg serving (or what the other guys say you should take).
